Pianist and composer Evan Mazunik fuses jazz and Christmas carols in his full-length solo album, Amid the Cold, featuring piano, vintage synthesizers, electronics, spoken word, and outer space sounds. “Growing up, I enjoyed holiday music from Vince Guaraldi’s Charlie Brown Christmas to Mannheim Steamroller,” said Mazunik. “I find in the Christmas story a hope that, even in the darkest hour, we can discover goodness—as the carol says, ‘amid the cold of winter, when half spent was the night.’”
